After a first look, Nike has revealed its full Black History Month sneaker lineup for 2020. The collection includes new designs for the Air Force 1 and Air Max 95, as well as the timeless classics — Converse’s Chuck 70 and Pro Leather. The color palette of this collection is inspired by the diversity in the African diaspora, with influences from African textiles and 90’s street style.
The BHM Air Force 1 Low features deconstructed and handmade finishes throughout its upper, highlighting the power of self-determination and self-expression. The hanging threads along the Swoosh represent the common thread shared through sport. The final touch is a mirrored toebox for a shoe made in the wearer’s image. This release will also be available in toddler sizing.
The Air Max 95 features bold colors on the side panels, with each layer coming together to create a rich tapestry. The white upper layer at the toe box can be peeled away, a reminder that there is always more within.
Both of these pairs will come with a BHM marker and customizable textile patches that can be used as shrouds to cover the lacing. These accessories celebrate the wearer’s individuality.
