Nike Dunk High “Culture Day” Nods to Japanese Elephants

0

Nike is celebrating the history of Japanese sneaker history with special “Culture Day” releases that includes an Air Force 1 Mid and Dunk High. Both of these styles are inspired by the sneaker communities and unique styles of districts such as Ueno, Shibuya, and Harajuku.

Focusing on the Dunk High, this release nods to the Naumann Elephant, an extinct species that was native to Japan during the Middle to Late Pleistocene period. Uppers are dressed in a textured grey leather that mimics the skin of an elephant, with darker grey suede used for the overlays. The insoles and icy grey outsoles feature a collage design that includes the Naumann Elephant as well as nods to the “Be True To Your School” pack. Additional details include a white Swoosh and vintage-style sail midsole.

A release for the Nike Dunk High “Culture Day” (aka “Elephant”) has been partially revealed by Nike, as they are loaded on SNKRS Korea with an April 27th release date. Stay tuned for any updates on a wider release and check out the official images below in the meantime.
