Nike's First Sight Collection for Women Introduces Three Futuristic Footwear Styles

Nike has unveiled its First Sight collection, comprised of a trio of futuristic women’s footwear styles designed for performance and self-expression, while exploring themes of femininity and innovation.

“The brief for this collection was, ‘How can we make women fall in love with these shoes the first time they see them?’” says Jeff Scott, Expert Product Line Manager of Energy Footwear. “What looks cool, appeals to her and feels new and exciting? We wanted to ground this collection in Nike’s athletic DNA while opening it up to the future through the lens of sportswear made distinctly for her.”

Starting off the sportswear collection is the Noir, inspired by a classic loafer and a track-and-field spike. Modeled after a sprinter’s signature stance at the start of a race, the silhouette features an ergonomic toe and a wedge-like construction.

“The track-inspired look of the First Sight Noir really hits home for me,” says Masai Russell, a Nike athlete and 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist who features in the campaign. “I love the suede material, which brings a really fun vibe that helps me look and feel good.”

Next up is the Mirage, a mix between an Oxford-style dress shoe and a football boot featuring an accessible slip-on upper, a first-of-its-kind cushioning system, and spikes reminiscent of those worn by footballers on the pitch. Each spike is crafted with 3D-sculpted TPU and filled with foam for a plush effect.

Lastly, the slip-on Shadow silhouette arrives with a traction pattern, sculpted upper, and dimpled surface that draws from Nike’s ’90s and early 2000s basketball footwear, reminiscent of styles such as the Air Foamposite One, Air Total Max Uptempo, and Air Flight One. Nike designer Frank Cooke shares an early look at the shoe in Metallic Silver and Royal Blue colorways.

“These shoes were truly made from scratch, with our designers gathering insights from around the world to create new art forms that speak to today’s female athlete,” says Thomasin Hummerstone, Senior Director, Energy Footwear. “Each silhouette is inspired by sport, infused with Nike-only energy, and crafted for women who want to push the boundaries of self-expression.”

“With each of these shoes, you feel the ferocity of the color — like it’s coming at you in a very real way,” says Scott. “We were inspired by athlete motion and emotion. There’s an intense and sculptural vision with each shoe. Still, every model has a glimmer — a sheen or a shine — that catches the eye and brings in brightness and levity.”

The Nike First Sight collection releases will begin with the Noir, dropping on March 20th at 10am ET across SNKRS and select retailers. The Mirage and Shadow silhouettes are set to debut later this year. Check out the preview below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
