Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Girl Dad” Drops Ahead of Father’s Day 2024

Original Story (02/07/24): Most of us remember Kobe Bryant for his stellar on-court performance and his Mamba Mentality, though his family and those close to him also remember him as being a loving father to his four daughters: Natalia, Gianna, Bianka, and Capri. During a ceremony after his passing, Vanessa Bryant called Kobe the “MVP of Girl Dads, or MVD.” Nike and Vanessa Bryant are now dropping a special “Girl Dad” Kobe 4 Protro as a tribute to Kobe’s love for his daughters.

This iteration of the Kobe 4 features a teal suede upper with a metallic silver heel counter and hits of black on the Swoosh, laces, and sockliner. The Kobe sheath logo is embroidered on the tongues in white, while the reverse side of the tongues feature “Girl Dad” embroidered in cursive script. Underfoot, a matching teal midsole and an icy translucent outsole rounds out the design. Orange-colored insoles rounds out the design.

The teal and orange color combo is inspired by the moments Kobe and Gigi shared on December 29th, 2019, sitting courtside together at a Lakers game less than a month before their tragic passing. On this day, Kobe was rocking a teal Philadelphia Eagles beanie and an orange WNBA hoodie.
