Original Story (01/07/26): Nike is adding neuroscience-based technology to its footwear to help keep athletes locked into their mindset before and after competition.
The Mind 001 mule and Mind 002 sneaker are the first styles from Nike designed to keep the wearer feeling calm, focused, and present tapping into the mind-body connection by activating the sensory receptors of the feet. On the soles of each shoe are 22 bright orange foam nodes that act as pistons and gimbals as you move — imparting the feeling, and even the texture, of the ground directly beneath. This interaction heightens sensory awareness, which Nike says can help clear away distractions and enhance concentration.
Nike demonstrates how Mind technology acts almost like “hearing aids for your feet” in an experiment video featuring cricketer Shubman Gill, multifaceted athlete and coach Claire Prince, and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

The first wave of Nike Mind releases include the 001 mule in three colorways — Light Bone, Solar Red, and Light Smoke Grey — plus the 002 sneaker in Violet, Khaki, and Light Smoke Grey. These styles drop January 8th on Nike.com, SNKRS, and at select retailers such as Foot Locker and Dick’s Sporting Goods. The second wave on February 5th will include Black colorways of both styles. Update (03/10/26): After instant sell-out releases, the initial four colorways of the Nike Mind 001—Line Bone, Solar Red, Light Smoke Grey, and Black—and three initial colorways of the Nike Mind 002 are all slated to restock on March 19th at 10am ET via Nike.com and select retailers.
