Nike is introducing the SB Air Force 1, reworking the classic Uptown silhouette into a model engineered specifically for skateboarding.
Designed by the Nike SB team, this skate-ready version of the Air Force 1 features a heel Air unit for impact protection, a reduced midsole height for enhanced board feel, and a modified herringbone tread pattern for optimal grip and flexibility. Additional updates include internal tongue straps, fit pods on the back of the heels, a reinforced padded tongue, and a refined toe profile. The debut colorway comes in Light Orewood Brown suede with pink accents, with additional colorways and special edition drops coming throughout the year.
“We had to find the right balance between delivering for skateboarders and honoring an icon,” says Mau Rosillo, a member of Nike’s Color Design team. “The design team considered every performance detail — the midsole, the outsole, the treads and the upper — and packaged it into the Air Force 1. If we would’ve lost one or the other, we wouldn’t be here.”
To celebrate the launch, Nike SB will embark on a seven-city tour down the I-95 to premiere the team’s new “Creased” video. Shot by Jonathan Mannion in New York City, the cast includes Karim Callender, Ville Wester, Antonio Durao, Poe Pinson, Casper Brooker, Troy Gipson, Elijah Odom, Georgia Martin, Joseph Campos, Cyrus Bennett, Jack O’Grady, and Bobby Worrest.
