Original Story (11/1/19): Wear-away uppers have become a popular trend in sneakers lately, mostly thanks to the success of the recent collabs between Nike SB and Jordan Brand, such as the “NYC to Paris” and “Chicago to LA” colorways of the Air Jordan 1. Those releases were followed by Eric Koston’s “UNC” and “Midnight Navy” iterations of the Air Jordan 1 Low, and while they didn’t feature wear-away uppers, they did set the blueprint for the next Nike SB x Jordan Brand collab.
Eric Koston himself was spotted wearing a yet-unreleased pair of Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Lows at the 2019 NBA KIA Tip-Off. The pair appears to have been skated in, since the “Desert Ore” upper is torn at the toes, revealing a UNC layer on the right shoe and a Royal layer on the left.
The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low “Desert Ore” is expected to release on December 6th at select retailers for a retail price of $120 USD. Check out Eric Koston’s pair in the images below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more info on this release.
