Songkran season calls for something special, and Nike SB delivers with the Nike SB Dunk Low “Songkran,” also known as “Som Tum” and “Thai Food”—a release where the details do all the talking.
Celebrated annually from April 13, Songkran, the Thai New Year, marks a time of renewal. The festival’s iconic water fights symbolize washing away bad luck and misfortune from the previous year, while traditional foods like som tum (spicy green papaya salad) play a central role in the celebrations.
The upper features woven textures that mirror traditional Thai bamboo baskets, the kind used to serve rice, while that warm, tan-heavy palette is cut through by a set of crimson-orange laces and a stitch running above the midsole that channels the spice of som tum. The heel is silver with Thai script, and underneath it has an ornate stitched detail.
Inside, the storytelling continues. Embroidered motifs on the inner tongues depict a rice basket on one shoe and som tum on the other, while the insoles feature a red lotus flower graphic overlaid with a green Swoosh. The packaging carries the theme further, arriving in a vibrant purple box with lotus-inspired wrapping paper, alongside an extra set of tan laces with green accents.
A launch celebration will take place in Bangkok, with Preduce Shop hosting a release event at Baan Preduce on April 11. Raffle registration opens the same day, with appearances from Nike SB riders Jake Anderson, along with Eric Koston and Danny Supa, who are both Thai, alongside a full lineup of skate activations, DJs, food, and drinks.
