Nike SB has been doing things differently, and the SB FC Pack is proof. Rooted in cumbia, a genre of music that resonates across cultures and communities, lead graphic designer Steven Gonzalez pulled straight from his Southern California upbringing to build something that doesn’t just look good, but carries a deeper personal connection.
“Cumbia hit the speakers, and we knew that was it: a shared love of cumbia, a rhythm that ignores divides,” Gonzalez says. “That rhythm’s always felt like home, and it’s where the collection took flight.”
The apparel side of the pack hits hard: three colorways of field and keeper jerseys built on loose fits with Dri-FIT construction. The hot pink kit reads like a statement piece straight off a cumbia flyer, the white home version keeps it clean with a warm gradient graphic. The two goalkeeper jerseys go full out with a pink-to-yellow ombre that bleeds into the sleeves and a purple, blue, and black version too, they also take things further with flame-stitch detailing sewn into the elbow pads. Sponsor patches on the jerseys aren’t from corporate deals; they’re a roll call of Nike SB’s core “Club 58” skate shops: Andrew, Bluetile, FTC, Geometric, Kingswell, NJ, Nocturnal, Plush, and Thirty Fifth North.
On the necklines of all jerseys, you’ll find the phrase “Inspired by the Music,” along with a hidden “Support Your Local” note tucked inside the music patch. Each jersey carries the “SB FC — La Más Fina” branding front and center, accompanied by a cherub angel that Gonzalez tied directly to Los Angeles’ dual identity as a soccer and skate city.
“Being born and raised in Southern California, my reference points were in my back pocket, and it only felt right bringing our little Angelita into the kit,” Gonzalez adds. “Then it was straight to our personal archives, looking at our favorite Cumbia flyers, modern soccer signage and iconic jerseys with sponsorships.”
On the footwear side, the Nike SB Air Max 95 keeps things understated with white and cream uppers, a yellow heel counter and black detailing, and it has a gradient sole window, a detail you won’t catch unless you flip it over. Meanwhile, the Tennis Classic goes all the way with a vibrant pink suede build over a blacked-out sole, “Club 58” embossed across the heel tab.
