As the NBA All-Star Weekend returns to Los Angeles year, Nike SB is putting skateboarding in the spotlight with the release of the Nike SB P-Rod 1 “All-Star.” This “Habanero Red” shoe symbolizes the intersection of Kobe Bryant’s All-Star legacy, Paul Rodriguez’s two-decade partnership with Nike SB, and Los Angeles’ lasting cultural significance during one of basketball’s most significant events.

Paul Rodriguez, Nike SB’s first signature athlete with more than 10 signature shoe models, is undoubtedly one of skateboarding’s most recognizable figures. His strong ties to Southern California make the All-Star setting a fitting backdrop for the return of his debut signature model.

Following its return in the OG White/Black colorway in 2025, the Nike SB P-Rod 1 is back in an “All-Star” colorway that draws direct inspiration from Kobe Bryant’s final All-Star Game MVP award in 2011, where he scored 37 points, leading the Western Conference to victory and earning the fourth All-Star MVP award of his career, an achievement later cemented when the NBA renamed the honor the Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP Award in 2020.

The shoe features a range of red suede tones across the upper, shifting from bright red to deeper wine hues. Darker midsole elements ground the silhouette while gold accents on the Swoosh and branding add contrast and visual focus.

The most pointed reference arrives in the form of the lace dubrae, stamped with subtle “WEST” text that nods to the Western Conference All-Star uniforms worn during the 2011 game. Rather than relying on bold graphics, Nike SB leans into restraint, allowing the significance of the reference to reveal itself through detail.

The timing of the release further reinforces the concept. The Nike SB P-Rod 1 “All-Star” is scheduled to launch on February 10th at local skate shops, aligning closely with the start of the NBA All-Star Weekend. Expect a wider release on SNKRS in the days following the launch. Check out the official images below.
