Fleece has always been the easy default, something you can throw on and forget about. Nike‘s newest push wants to make you think about it a little more, without losing any of that ease. Studio Fleece arrives as a full system rather than a single hoodie or crewneck, built around the idea that what you wear to warm up, cool down, and just exist during the rest of the day shouldn’t have to be three different outfits.
The lineup itself covers the basics: crew and quarter-zip sweatshirts, full-zip and pullover hoodies, shorts, and sweatpants. These are the staples that make up most people’s rotations, rebuilt from the ground up.
The whole thing is grounded in research pulled from over 300 women, which helped shape everything from the softness of the face fabric to how the hood sits. That shows up most in the range itself: two fits, a closer-cut standard and a roomier oversize, spread across three weights. Lightweight and mediumweight pieces get a five-pass sueded finish for a softer hand feel, while the heavyweight oversized pieces feature brushed fabric and a reverse-heather construction for something with a bit more structure.
Color-wise, Nike’s leading with Total Black and Birch Heather, which may seem like safe choices on paper, but the Total Black pieces come with a new dye process built to hold up through at least 30 washes without fading, which is a bigger deal than it sounds if you’ve ever watched a black hoodie fade after a few months.
The design details are subtler: cleaner lines, trimmed-down cuffs, a reworked hood, and a small Lyon Blue label that’s meant to separate Studio Fleece from Nike’s regular fleece offerings. Just enough to signal this isn’t the same sweatshirt you’ve had since college.
Studio Fleece also isn’t traveling alone. Nike’s rolling it out alongside a men’s line called Solo Fleece, which features cropped, boxier silhouettes and its own two-layer hood. The two collections share a joint campaign fronted by Alysa Liu, Jazzy Davidson, Sha’Carri Richardson, Moses Itauma, Karina, and Yeat.
Studio Fleece is available now at nike.com and select Nike partner retailers across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Full worldwide availability begins September 1st, with additional styles releasing in the coming months.
