NikeSKIMS is officially stepping into footwear with its first sneaker release: the NikeSKIMS Air Rift Mesh, arriving later this month. After months of anticipation around the Nike x SKIMS partnership, the two brands are finally expanding beyond apparel with a sleek, lifestyle-forward take on one of Nike‘s most polarizing cult silhouettes.
“The Rift isn’t just a shoe – it’s a 90s icon that women everywhere have fallen in love with. Together with Nike, we focused on creating a version that feels minimalist, sleek, and flattering,” says Kim Kardashian.
Recrafted for “effortless movement,” the Air Rift Mesh brings SKIMS‘ signature minimalism to Nike’s archival Air Rift design, a split-toe silhouette first introduced in 1996. Inspired by Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, the original model was shaped with input from Kenyan long-distance runners, with the split-toe construction designed to align with the foot’s natural shape for a smoother stride.
In true NikeSKIMS fashion, the debut leans into neutral tones and streamlines details. The Air Rift Mesh features an airy mesh build with a low-to-the-ground sole and an understated strap system that keep sthe design looking more like a modern studio shoe than a traditional sneaker. The execution gives the model a soft, sculpted look that fits seamlessly into the SKIMS aesthetic.
The NikeSKIMS Air Rift Mesh arrives in North America on January 26th at 10am ET in three colorways: “Black,” “Velvet Brown,” and “Archaeo Brown.” They’ll be available on Nike.com and the SKIMS website, as well as at select retailers. Check them out below.
