Drake and Nike’s NOCTA label is dropping its first CODE collection, a tribute to the future-tech vision of legendary designer Tony Spackman and his Nike Code 01-04 collections from the early 2000s.
Nike Code consisted of expertly crafted articulated garments made from high-quality materials optimized for comfort, free movement, flexibility, and breathability, defined by its anatomical linework, complex panels and layering, elasticated vents, and an array of other technical features. Released in limited quantities in 2003, Nike Code was ahead of its time, playing a major role in shaping today’s techwear and gorpcore landscape.
Over two decades after its original release, Nike Code is now being revived by way of NOCTA, and this debut NOCTA CODE collection has Spackman’s design language all over it. The Prestigious Flow Jacket is made from water-repellant Japanese wool and features a detachable engineered knit masked neck warmer. The Prestigious Fold Jacket, a NOCTA-exclusive piece, features a grey-and-black color-blocked GORE-TEX shell with a built-in vest. A third jacket, the Component 5, is the most versatile yet, designed as a 5-in-1 style that includes an adjustable hood, cropped jacket, down filled vest, knit shrug, and detachable neck foam pincher.
Rounding out the collection are wool and GORE-TEX pants to accompany the jackets, a Hyena Top with a bungee neck and built-in ear cuffs, an “Anomaly Cycle” logo tee, and a knit neck warmer.
