Takashi Murakami has unveiled new colorways of his Ohana Hatake Surippa slide as part of a drop called Onsen Collection II. Arriving in Purple Ash, Mineral Blue, and Birch, the palette draws from the quiet, mineral-toned world of onsen (Japanese hot springs)—earthy, calming, and easy to live in.
The Surippa silhouette is rooted in something deeper than aesthetics. Ohana Hatake takes the Japanese indoor slipper and pushes it into contemporary streetwear territory. The result is a slide that moves just as naturally through the city as it does at home.
Construction-wise, the slipper is built around a soft EVA foam footbed with a contoured shape that molds to the foot over time. Murakami’s signature flower emblem sits on the midsole and carries over to the outsole. The standout slipper is the Purple Ash, thanks to the yellow-to-off-white-to-purple ash gradient that starts right on top and slowly fades out to the sides. Overall, the latest Surippa Onsen Collection isn’t as loud as some of Murakami’s other works, although you get a taste of his usual artwork style on the bottom of the slippers with an all-over print of the iconic smiling flower.
Ohana Hatake’s Surippa Onsen Collection II drops Wednesday, April 1st at 9am PT via the Ohana Hatake website and select stockists. Check out the three new colorways below.
