Gucci is adding another name to its list of collaborators with a new project spearheaded by creative director Alessandro Michele. After recent team-ups with Xbox, adidas, and The North Face, the Italian fashion house is now linking up with London’s Palace Skateboards.
The Palace Gucci collection is comprised of over 70 pieces, including ready-to-wear apparel, footwear, and accessories. The aesthetics of both brands meld together well throughout the pieces, with Gucci motifs such as the Double-G monogram being combined with Palace’s Tri-Ferg. Most of the styles offered are your usual suspects — tees, hoodies, football-inspired jerseys, and loafers — though there are two pieces that stand out from the rest: a Moto Guzzi V7 motorcycle and a leather safe box.
The accompanying campaign film has that unique Palace charm: playful, humorous, and sometimes absurd. You gotta love the subversive nihilistic cultural ennui of the subtext.
The Palace Gucci collection drops on Friday, October 21st on the Gucci Vault website. The collection will also be available at Palace’s London, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo locations, as well as at pop-up stores in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Osaka, and Bangkok.
