Flameboy & Wet Willy Star in Palace x World Industries Collection

A union between the London and Santa Monica-based skate brands.

Palace Skateboards has unveiled its new collaboration with pioneering skateboarding company World Industries, a collection comprised of apparel, headwear, and skate decks.

Headquartered in Santa Monica and founded in 1987, World Industries revolutionized skateboarding as one of the first skater-owned and operated companies. Their popular cartoon mascots, Flameboy and Wet Willy, helped them gain top-selling status in the ’90s. Created by artist Mark McKee alongside Devilman, these characters were designed by founders Steve Rocco and Rodney Mullen to target younger skaters during the rise of the X-Games, though they became universally loved among skaters of all ages.

Flameboy and Wet Willy are now the stars of the new Palace x World Industries collection, appearing on hoodies, long-sleeve tees, knit sweaters, trucker hats, reversible beanies, and skate decks. Flameboy is depicted reading the book Ulysses, while Wet Willy is taking a rip of a P-shaped bong. Devilman also makes an appearance, featured on coach jackets and short-sleeve graphic tees.

The accompanying campaign imagery includes a comic strip featuring Flameboy, Wet Willy, and Jesus Christ doing Christ Airs on a skate ramp in heaven. Jesus ripping the “P” bong might be sacrilegious, though it’s the type of provocative and subversive imagery we’ve come to expect from the London-based Palace team.

The Palace x World Industries “Palace Industries” collection drops Friday, March 13th at Palace locations and on the Palace website (11am ET). Check out the pieces below.
