PJ Tucker, the sneaker king of the NBA and reigning NBA champion, is getting his own Converse shoe collab.
Titled “Out Tha Mud,” the PJ Tucker x Converse Pro Leather is a symbol of the hard work and motivation it takes to get to where you want to be. As a kid growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina, PJ would play backyard basketball all day, only stopping when mom called everyone in for dinner. Mud stains would cover the one pair of new shoes for the year, symbolized by the aged midsoles.
Tucker had dreams of playing at UNC, symbolized by the Carolina blue accent on the left tongue tag, though fate led him to the University of Texas, symbolized the orange hit on the right tongue tag. The premium rugged suede overlays exemplify Tucker’s “run through a brick wall” mentality, while the gold “OTM” hit nods to Tucker making it out tha mud, from small town to NBA champion.
The PJ Tucker x Converse Pro Leather Hi “Out Tha Mud” will be available at a pop-up in Miami on January 22nd, followed by an online release on The Better Generation app (Apple / Android). Seventeen pairs from this online release will be signed by PJ Tucker himself and will be shipped out at random. A wider release goes down on January 28th on Converse.com and Foot Locker.
