Around 2008, before his partnership with Nike, Kanye West worked on a project with Reebok involving Jay-Z’s signature S. Carter CL Low sneaker. The shoes never officially released to the public, but rumor has it that around 100 promo sample pairs were custom made specifically for Ye and his crew.
Fifteen years later, Reebok is now dropping a Y2K-inspired collection of Club C BULCs in colorways that nod back to these promo samples. These come in “Brush Brown,” “Dark Green,” and “True Pink,” the latter also reminiscent of Pharrell’s Reebok x BBC Board Flip from 2006. All three colorways feature suede construction with pops of patent leather on the heels and ankle collars.
The Club C BULC itself is the perfect silhouette for this Y2K-inspired release as it was designed to mimic the bulky skate shoes of the 2000s, fat laces and all. Debut by Reebok earlier this year, the Club C BULC has already seen a couple of collab projects, one with BEAMS and another with Montreal-based skate brand Dime.
These Y2K-inspired Reebok Club C BULB colorways are available now on Reebok.com and at select retailers. Check out all three below.
