Rick Owens & Converse Launch the DRKSHDW ONESTR

Rick Owens and Converse introduce the DRKSHDW ONESTR — a distorted take on the iconic One Star skate sneaker.

Arriving on Owens’ 64th birthday in “DRKDST” and “ACID” colorways, the ONESTR features exaggerated proportions and striking details: an elongated tongue, widened base, and thicker foxing tape to amplify the silhouette’s stance. A premium hairy leather upper adds rich texture and depth, while a CX foam midsole provides enhanced comfort and cushioning. Finishing touches include a custom Rick Owens wraparound woven label, a sawtooth outsole, and a molded rubber heel.

Known for his avant-garde vision and fearless approach to fashion, Rick Owens applies his signature design language to the One Star, following earlier reinterpretations of Converse classics like the Weapon and Chuck 70. Blending style, comfort, and edge, this collaboration honors Rick’s legacy of challenging convention and elevating everyday footwear into wearable sculpture.

The Converse x DRKSHDW ONESTR campaign comes to life with multidisciplinary artist and ballroom icon Precious Ebony. Owens reflects on his first encounter with Ebony:

“8 years ago, I saw Precious Ebony MC a voguing ball in Paris and reached out for her to perform at the warehouse afterparty of my retrospective at the Triennale di Milano. We ended up putting her on a cherry picker that we slowly drove into the middle of the crowded dance floor at 2 in the morning, gradually raising her high over the crowd’s heads as she ferociously barked a cappella over brutalist beats by Ryoji Ikeda. In a white gown. Spinning her long hair. Collapsing into violently delicious dips. I will remember that ragingly defiant glamour forever. One of the most glorious nights of my life.”
