Sneaker design veteran Salehe Bembury—known for his work with Versace, YEEZY, New Balance, Crocs, and PUMA—is stepping into a new era of creative independence with the launch of his own footwear brand, SPUNGE. The brand’s debut silhouette, the Osmosis, arrives in four colorways and introduces Bembury’s vision for the future of performance-lifestyle design.
At the heart of the Osmosis is SQUISH TECH, SPUNGE’s proprietary performance cushioning system engineered for comfort and responsiveness. The brightly colored foam midsole is framed by an engineered stability cage, with cut-out windows at the heel offering a glimpse of the technology beneath. Additional features include a reinforced abrasion-resistant rubber toe cap for protection against wear, and a lightweight ripstop upper with textured tongue detailing, balancing lifestyle appeal with outdoor durability.
The debut colorways include the mustard brown “Yukon,” purple and green “Slaw,” neon green and orange “Mung,” and bright blue “Malawi.” Each pair features SPUNGE branding on the lateral side and heel tab.
“I’ve been working as a footwear designer for 15+ years,” says Salehe Bembury. “My collective experiences as both designer and collaborator allowed me to realize I need to have full agency over my vision to achieve the ambitious goals that I’ve set for myself. The only way to do that was to create my own footwear brand. SPUNGE is the vehicle that enables me to create on my terms, with my own unique output.”
Raffles for the SPUNGE Osmosis are now live on beaspunge.com, with winners notified on October 13th. Additional launch events will follow in the weeks ahead, including at Dover Street Market London, Kith NYC, A Ma Maniere Atlanta, and ComplexCon Las Vegas, all leading to a global retail launch on November 15th.
