ASICS Sportstyle is celebrating the life and legacy of Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna with a collab with the Senna brand on two colorways of the GEL-KAYANO 14.
Coinciding with the arrival of the Senna limited series on Netflix and the 30-year anniversary of Ayrton Senna’ tragic passing, the Senna x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 14 pack pays homage to Senna’s historic racing career, as well as the discipline and determination he demonstrated off the race track. Senna’s daily routine consisted of runs of over 10km, exemplifying ASICS’ “Sound Mind, Sound Body” philosophy.
The first of the two colorways comes in a white and red-orange colorway, inspired by the jumpsuit and helmet than Senna wore when he won his three Formula 1 world titles for the McLaren racing team. Senna’s name in Japanese is printed on the lateral side panels, paying tribute to how many of his greatest triumphs came at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The second colorway comes in a black and gold color scheme, inspired by the car in which Senna achieved his first ever F1 victory in 1985, the Lotus 97T. This colorway features Senna’s “Seek Your Truth” motto on the lateral heels, reflecting the driver’s relentless pursuit of excellence. Both fairs feature the Senna “S” logo on the back of the heels and a green, yellow, and navy tag on the eyestays that pays homage to the Brazilian flag.
