Skullcandy is taking its signature bass-heavy listening experience to the next level with the introduction of the Crusher 1080 ANC, the most advanced headphones in the brand’s history. For the first time, the audio brand has teamed up with Bose, pairing its patented Crusher bass technology with premium Sound by Bose features in what it calls its biggest leap forward yet.
Crusher has always stood apart thanks to its ability to make listeners physically feel their music through its signature sensory bass system. With the 1080 ANC, Skullcandy keeps that experience front and center while adding Bose’s expertise in noise cancellation, spatial audio, and overall sound quality.
“Skullcandy is known for pushing the boundaries of bass. For the uninitiated, the Crusher experience is akin to standing front row at your favorite concert. It’s the closest thing to reality,” says Skullcandy CEO Brian Garofalow. “In addition to giving fans the best-ever Crusher experience, we worked with Bose to be the first partner to integrate their noise cancellation, spatial audio, and other Sound by Bose technologies together. We set out to make the world’s greatest headphone by combining the two to deliver an incredible sonic experience for an unbelievable value.”
The launch also comes with a new campaign titled The Crusher Effect, starring skateboarding icon Tony Hawk as an eccentric Skullcandy CEO leading a team of scientists on a mission to build the world’s greatest headphones. With cameos from Mason Silva and Nora Vasconcellos, the film blends skate culture with over-the-top sci-fi comedy, following “Test Subject Zero” as he cranks the Crusher bass to its highest setting before undergoing an “audio awakening.”
Skullcandy brought that same energy to New York City for an epic launch event, where Hawk was joined by members of the skate community including Andrew Reynolds, Louie Lopez, Evan Mock, Don “Nuge” Nguyen, Nora Vasconcellos, Mason Silva, Erik Bragg, and more.
“For 60 years, Bose has been dedicated to research and engineering better listening experiences that change how people listen to music,” says Nick Smith, President of Bose Audio Technology and Chief Strategy Officer. “We’re excited to bring some of our most advanced audio technologies to Crusher 1080 ANC and hear them paired with Skullcandy’s unique sensory bass platform.”
“Crusher might actually be the best headphone ever,” adds Hawk. “Stunning audio and a bass experience unlike anything else.”
The Skullcandy Crusher 1080 ANC is available now in four colorways: Black, Candy, Primer, and Cement. Grab a pair now on Skullcandy.com or at select retailers.
