Original Story (02/27/25): London-based Nigerian artist Slawn is gearing up to launch his first ever sneaker collaboration, teaming up with Nike on the Air Max 90 for the silhouette’s 35th anniversary.
Slawn has been a fixture in the streetwear scene for years, appearing in various Supreme lookbooks and dropping projects with the likes of FTP and Ksubi. That has all led to this point, an official sneaker collab with Nike. The Slawn Air Max 90 comes in two colorways, each equipped with full-leather uppers with Slawn’s artwork embossed on the rear and side panels. The shoes also come with metallic lacestays and Slawn character faces on the heel tabs.
The two colorways nod to Slawn’s preferred art medium: painting. One comes in all black with white paint speckles in the forefoot, as well as painted on swooshes on the side panels. The second colorway comes in sail and features the same white paint speckling, though it’s less noticeable on this pair. The shoes come in a special box adorned with graffiti writing and featuring a see-through lid.
Slawn officially announced his Nike collab in early February with an animated teaser featuring narration by Lil Yachty. This was followed by the announcement of a pop-up at London’s Truman Brewery, with a giant inflatable Slawn x Nike art installation sitting atop the venue.
The Slawn x Nike Air Max 90 will launch early at the London pop-up, taking place on March 1st. Slawn has also announced an “AM90 Roulette,” where anyone who buys a sculpture or print on his website has a chance to get a pair of Air Max 90s early in their size. The website will open on Sunday, March 2nd at 7pm London time and remain open for 24 hours.

Update (03/16/25): Slawn has revealed a third colorway in “Crimson,” limited to 50 pairs. To access, Slawn asks that you share his IG post on your story and run the comments up. Select people will be DM’ed a password for his website to cop on April 11th.
