Twenty years deep, and Sneaker News is finally lacing up its own pair. The publication is teaming up with A BATHING APE to release its debut sneaker—and naturally, they went with the BAPE STA.
The collaboration comes in two colorways rooted in the push and pull of New York City life. The “Day” version arrives in a crisp off-white build with grey suede overlays, a gum outsole, and pastel hits of mint, lavender, and sky blue landing across the triple-stacked STA logo. It’s bright and alive, moving the same way the city does in the daytime. Flip to the “Night” pair, and everything gets grittier: a charcoal grey gradient suede takes over, the outsole goes dark with a speckled finish, and those same pastel accents feel more intentional against the moody base.
Both pairs carry the newly designed triple-stacked STA logo — a first for the silhouette — alongside Sneaker News branding and a Collector Club callout on the tongue. The metal dubrae on the laces serve as a clean finishing detail. The “Day” edition is limited to 1,386 pairs and the “Night” to just 556.
This collaborative project has been in the works for a few years now—so long in fact that the pairs are still equipped with the old BAPE STA midsole, which BAPE was forced to modify as part of its lawsuit settlement with Nike in 2024, as the tooling was deemed too similar to that of the Air Force 1.
The Sneaker News BAPE STAs will be available globally via StockX on May 6th. If you’re in New York, the BAPE flagship gets them on May 8th, and a dedicated Sneaker News x BAPE pop-up powered by StockX opens at 70 Hester Street in the Lower East Side, running from May 8th to May 9th.
