Stan Birch is putting his name on a sneaker for the first time, linking up with Saucony on the ProGrid Guide 7 for his debut collaboration. Dubbed “Stand Out,” the shoe first surfaced this past June at the Saucony Showroom during Paris Fashion Week, and now it’s got an official release date.
Footwear is actually where the French designer got his start, hand-customizing sneakers before his practice expanded into bespoke garments; he’s racked up something like 2,000 pairs by hand over the years. That’s also where his “split method” comes from, a signature technique that involves reworking a shoe’s stitching lines to recombine its parts in new ways. The same instinct shows up in his broader design work, with a level of restraint that keeps even his boldest ideas from feeling overdone. That balance is what he brings to the ProGrid Guide 7.
The design leans into color and layered materials. Burgundy, cream, and metallic gold anchor the palette, built across a cream mesh base with an off-white grid-mesh overlay. Light green suede wraps the toe box and heel, while salmon pink nubuck and mint green leather layer in throughout for contrast.
The customizable pieces and details are where the collaboration shows its hand. The side logo sits on a Velcro construction, swappable between a metallic gold badge and a purple embroidered one, and the shoe ships with alternative lacing options as well. The tongue carries an embroidered Stan Birch x Saucony co-branding tag, and the heel counter has “Stand Out” embroidered directly onto the cream panel.
The packaging follows the same direction, with co-branding and a dotted design that carries the shoe’s colorway onto the box.
