Named Vans Artistic Director this past August, multi-platinum recording artist SZA arrived at Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 26 Paris Fashion Week show wearing a one-of-one custom Vans Authentic crafted by NYC-based designer Rachel Goatley.
Dubbed “Ladybug Garden,” the pair is dressed in a cream upper and is accented with floral detailing, adorned with jeweled ladybugs, flowers, and leaves. Gemstones included are yellow and orange citrine, pink sapphire, emerald, and peridot. A playful feature includes a “VANSZA” dubrae, merging SZA’s name with the brand and further elevating the duo’s partnership and the personalized pieces she can call her own.
A self-taught jewelry designer and Creative Partner at Greg Yuna New York, Rachel Goatley utilizes themes such as intimacy and abstraction to study shapes and color and craft her pieces. The result is highly individualized craftsmanship and heirloom-level quality pieces.
She also designed four additional one-of-one embellished Vans pairs specifically for the singer to wear during Paris Fashion Week, ranging from the signature Authentic and Old Skool silhouettes. Each pair features custom enamel lace locks, handcrafted in sterling silver, yellow-gold plated, and set with sapphires, topaz, opal, citrine, malachite, and diamonds.
As Vans artistic director, SZA’s cultural significance and musical impact are uplifting emerging designers from the best seat in the house: front row at one of fashion’s major global events. The artist will be hosting a community signing and product giveaway at the runway. More details will be announced for attendees in Paris this week.
