The connection between Thrasher and Argentina isn’t new, it just hasn’t been acknowledged at this scale before. Thrasher was founded in San Francisco in 1981 by Fausto Vitello, who was born in Argentina, and the family’s passion for Argentine football has been well documented. adidas Skateboarding linked up with Fausto’s son and current Thrasher owner Tony Vitello, to turn that piece of history into a full collection arriving just ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The collection was first spotted on Argentina’s Julián Alvarez, Máximo Perrone, and Nico Paz before any official announcement, the kind of early placement that immediately made the cultural logic of the project feel authentic.
The nine-piece Thrasher x adidas x Argentine Football Association capsule is anchored by a football jersey modeled after Argentina’s 1994 World Cup kit, the last time the tournament was hosted in the United States. The diamond pattern from that kit runs across the jersey in blue and black, with the AFA crest and Thrasher logo sharing space on the chest. The collection also includes chino pants with embroidered AFA monogram detailing, a hoodie with Argentina’s sky blue three-stripes, and graphic tee. Additional pieces feature the playful artwork of legendary skater and artist Mark Gonzales, also known as Gonz, appearing on a ringer tee, crewneck, and reversible bucket hat.
As for the footwear, we have the Glenburn, an adidas Skateboarding silhouette that already carries soccer-influenced design in its DNA — a terrace-style aesthetic translated for street skating. The collaboration version lands in black and cream with gum sole, and the details do the work quietly: Thrasher branding at the heel, three stars honoring Argentina’s three World Cup titles, and an AFA crest on the tongue. The shoe sits on an EVA heel drop-in for cushioning and uses a rubber outsole built for both skating and everyday wear.
A Thrasher x adidas Predator cleat has also been spotted, first debut on the pitch by Rodrigo De Paul, though this pair is expected to remain a Friends & Family exclusive. It features a black leather upper with Thrasher flame graphics rising from the toe box, rendered in gold and light blue as a nod to the Argentine roots of the Vitello family rather than the magazine’s traditional red and orange. The fold-over tongue carries a gold Thrasher logo on the right foot and a standard adidas logo on the left.
The Thrasher x Argentina x adidas Skateboarding collection launches May 31st at select skate shops, ahead of the global release on June 1st via the adidas website (10am ET) and select lifestyle retailers. Check out the full lineup below.
