Original Story (08/06/20): Los Angeles sneaker boutique Union has officially unveiled their highly anticipated second Jordan Brand collaboration.
2018’s set of reconstructed Union LA x Jordan 1s was one of the biggest releases of the year, and leaked photos of an upcoming Jordan 4 from the duo last month got the hype train rolling at the speed of sound. Today, the shop released official photos and design details of the collection, which includes two different colorways of a modified Air Jordan 4, an Air Jordan Delta Mid, and an Air Jordan Zoom 92.
The Jordan 4, which comes in “Guava” and “Off-Noir” colorways, features a modified toebox for a more severe vamp from an overhead view and a stitch-folded short tongue that can be modified to full height by cutting threads. The models feature modified versions of classic Jordan colors (black, white, blue, and red) atop a yellowed-out midsole.
The Delta Mid uses the same “Off-Noir” colorway found on the collection’s Jordan 4 and features a significantly higher cut than the mainline Jordan Delta. While the normal model is largely synthetic, Union’s redress features luxe suede overlays atop durable mesh for breathable comfort. The midsole is made up of yellowed Nike React for a vintage feel despite its highly futuristic functionality.
Finally, the Union x Air Jordan Zoom 92 makes use of the all-new model to deliver references to all three previous shoes in the “Guava” colorway. The model features a heel badge reminiscent of the Jordan VII, but with the 23 swapped for a 9 (a reference to Michael’s number at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.) Similar to the Delta, this model contrasts classic suede construction with high-tech durable mesh and Swoosh branding for a shoe that commemorates performance and culture across decades of Jordan legacy.
The Union LA x Air Jordan collaboration is set to arrive with an accompanying apparel drop on Saturday, August 29th according to a countdown on a website created specifically for the drop. Update (08/19/20): Some new release info for the the Jordan Brand x Union collection. As expected, the shoes and accompanying apparel will be available at Union doors and Union’s online store on August 29. A broader launch will occur September 30 via jordan.com and select Jordan Brand and partner retail stores around the world.
