Up There is taking adidas’ iconic City Series franchise down under with a new silhouette that celebrates its roots, marking the Melbourne-based retailer’s first adidas project since joining the Consortium family.
Dubbed the adidas Melbourne, the shoe’s design nods to Aussie tennis legend Rod Laver with a mesh upper pulled from his 1970 signature shoe, paired with details from a running spike used during the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. The spike’s white and green hues are reflected in the colorway, giving the silhouette a vintage feel. Additionally, the foam tongue pays homage to the Australian-made adidas Rome, featuring a worn tag reading “MADE BY UP THERE.” Other key details include a padded leather lining, a performance insole, and three lace options with tips in Up There’s signature bright green.
The Up There x adidas Melbourne will be available in-store at Up There on January 29th at 10am AEDT, followed by an online release on January 30th at 6pm AEDT via upthere.com. Check out the pair below.
