VANDYTHEPINK is back with a new food-themed sneaker collaboration, this time teaming up with PUMA on a pack of Burger Suedes.
The Virginia-based streetwear brand founded by Korean designer Junghoon Son (aka Vandy) follows up up his “Banana Split” drop with ASICS and atmos earlier this year with two PUMA Suede colorways inspired by the ingredients of a cheeseburger. One pair comes dressed in wheat brown to represent the burger bun, with red tongues and liners for the tomato and a golden yellow Formstrip on the side panels symbolizing a slice of cheese. The second pair represents the lettuce, patty, and mayonnaise, featuring a green suede upper, dark brown tongue and sockliner, and white Formstrip. Each pair comes with a mini spatula keychain and an extra set of picnic-style gingham laces.
Vandy became enamored with American fast food when he first moved to the states as a teenager, captivated by the bright colors of billboards for chains like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s. The burger would go on to become a signature motif for Vandy, who went viral in 2019 with his “Burger Dunk” Nike knockoff design. That moment helped launch a string of official collaborations, including projects with McDonald’s Hong Kong and burger-themed footwear collabs with Clarks and Salomon.
The PUMA Burger Suedes release alongside a zip-up hoodie ($125), short sleeve sports jersey ($120), and Burger Bag large enough to fit both pairs of shoes. A launch event celebrating the release will be held on October 24th at the PUMA Las Vegas flagship store.
The VANDYTHEPINK x PUMA Suede “Burger Pack” drops at ComplexCon in Las Vegas on October 25-26, followed by an online release on October 29th on PUMA.com (midnight ET) and the VANDYTHEPINK website. The Burger Bag will be available exclusively at ComplexCon and via early access on the VTP website. Check out the full collection below.
