Vans is stepping into the cozy clog conversation with its Harbor Mule VR3, a comfort-first silhouette that rolled out overseas in late 2025 before its global release. Early pairs have been surfacing in Asia, with a wider launch expected to follow.
Built to lounge, to run quick errands, and everything in between, the Harbor Mule is the perfect shoe to slip into after a long day on the board. The shape naturally draws comparisons to the Birkenstock Boston clog, a shoe that helped reshape casual footwear culture over the last few years, but Vans keeps the design grounded and minimal rather than overdoing the trend.
The Harbor Mule features a soft upper with an open-back slip-on build, leaning fully into comfort. Most of the debut colorways are expected to arrive in suede, with the material wrapping down the sidewalls for a more elevated finish. Inside, the mule is lined with faux fur, providing a warm, plush feel.
Comfort is also the key selling point underfoot. Instead of the traditional Vans cushioning, the Harbor Mule is built with a full VR3Cush midsole, made with a primarily biodegradable foam formula for a softer ride throughout the entire base.
In the US, the Vans Harbor Mule is expected to release in 2026 on the Vans website and at select retailers, in unisex sizing. The first drop includes four colorways: “Khaki,” “Black,” “Pink,” and “Chipmunk,” with the “Chipmunk” pair switching things up with a corduroy upper. Retail price is set at $65 USD.
