Vans digs into its archive to revive one of its most recognizable motifs with the Premium Old Skool 36 “Archive Flame” pack, bringing back the bold graphic energy that helped define skate style in the ’90s and early 2000s.
The pack centers around three colorways of the Vans Old Skool, updated with oversized flame graphics across the side panels, metallic silver sidestripes, and black grease staining on the midsoles to give off a “cooked” look. Each pair is constructed with different fabrics and materials, pulling design DNA pulled from classic outerwear pieces.
According to designer Greg Betty, the material play draws inspiration from jackets he spotted while vintage shopping in Seoul. The black colorway is reminiscent of a Harley-Davidson leather jacket, adorned with pebbled leather and red-and-yellow flames. The Sukajan jacket-inspired green pair features a satin upper, purple-to-silver gradient flames, and metallic silver eyelets. Rounding out the pack is an off-white pair that takes its canvas upper from a Carhartt Detroit Work Jacket, complete with blue-and-white flames and metallic silver eyelets.
