Original Story (05/04/22): Jordan Brand will soon be dropping a new installment in its “Shattered Backboard” series, this time with a women’s colorway of the Air Jordan 1.
For a bit of background, the “Shattered Backboard” series kicked off in 2015 with the release of an Air Jordan 1 inspired by Michael Jordan’s backboard shattering moment during an exhibition game in Trieste, Italy in 1985. The shoe incorporated orange in the color scheme, nodding to the Stefanel Trieste jersey worn by Jordan during the event. Other installments in the series include the 2.0 in 2016, women’s satin edition in 2018, 3.0 in 2019, and last year’s AJ1 Low.
The 2022 Women’s Air Jordan 1 most closely resembles the 2.0, with white leather used for the base and Starfish orange dressing the overlays. This version, however, also uses orange on the Swooosh. Another significant change is the addition of dark brown on the ankle collar. These are said to be inspired by Birkin bags as well as the “SBB” theme. The colorway was first revealed in Jordan Brand’s post officially welcoming WNBA star Isabelle Harrison to the Jumpman family.
