As Formula 1 heads to Suzuka for the Japanese Grand Prix later this month, adidas Y-3 and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team come together for a racing-themed apparel collection that combines avant-garde design with boundary-pushing performance streetwear.
The collection features the return of Y-3’s iconic wolf motif, originally introduced by Yohji Yamamoto as part of the F50 Tunit “Beast Pack” for the 2006 World Cup. This pack featured football cleats based on four animals rooted in Japanese mythology: the wolf, tiger, eagle, and dragon.

Considered a guardian in the animal kingdom and symbolizing speed, instinct, and bravery, the wolf is now back on performance apparel and fanwear as an homage to the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team drivers and their leader, Toto Wolff. To capture the energy of the track, the collection also features a graphic print inspired by the smoke that billows from the team’s race cars.
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff himself stars in the collection’s campaign, accompanied by drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.
The adidas Y-3 x Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team capsule drops March 19th on adidas.com/y-3 (10am ET) and at select retailers. Check out the campaign shots below.
