Original Story (07/29/26): Can Ye actually be canceled? Judging by the numbers, the answer seems pretty clear. Despite years of controversy, the artist formerly known as Kanye West continues to sell out stadiums around the world, setting attendance and box office records in multiple markets. Whatever the internet discourse may suggest, demand for his music and products hasn’t disappeared.
Now, a major retailer is betting that demand extends to footwear.
After years of selling almost exclusively through his own website, YEEZY has officially partnered with JD Sports, making the retailer the exclusive destination for Ye’s independently produced footwear. The move comes after adidas ended its partnership with Ye in 2022, leaving the future of YEEZY uncertain until the brand reemerged as an independent operation.
Since then, Ye has publicly apologized for his antisemitic remarks, while continuing to rebuild YEEZY outside the traditional sneaker industry. His first release through JD Sports includes the YEEZY YS-01 in “Chocolate,” a dark brown colorway that appears almost black under certain lighting. The minimalist slip-on keeps the sculpted, one-piece construction that has defined much of YEEZY’s recent footwear output.
For longtime YEEZY buyers, the JD Sports rollout also solves one of the biggest frustrations of ordering directly from YEEZY. While purchases through the brand’s own website have often come with extended and sometimes unpredictable shipping times, JD Sports offers a more familiar retail experience with faster fulfillment, in-store availability, and easier returns.
The YEEZY YS-01 “Chocolate” is slated to drop August 13th via JD Sports in-store and online. Check out the official retailer images below.
Update (08/07/26): YZY at JD Sports has been officially announced. The launch includes the YS-01 in Chocolate as well as in Black, Grey, Blue, Fudge, Cream, and White colorways. JD Sports has also confirmed releases of the YS-02, AQ-01, BL-01, and HL-02, marking the first time the AQ-01 tactical water shoe and the HL-02 women’s heel are made available to the public.
