Original Story (06/03/25): 88rising, the record label and media company known for supporting Asian and Asian American artists, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a BAPE collaboration, which they just revealed over the weekend at Head In The Clouds Festival.
The collection features apparel styles such as tracksuits, Shark Hoodies, and tees, as well as footwear in the form of BAPE STAs and SHARK STAs. The pieces draw inspiration from late nights in Cupertino, California—the childhood home of 88rising founder Sean Miyashiro—as well as ’90s and early ’00s streetwear and its influence in an era of DIY creativity and mixtape hustles.
The collaboration will also feature an exclusive mixtape and a special series of tees in collaboration with artists from the 88rising roster, including Jonah Love, who debuted his BAPE tee during his Head in the Clouds performance.
Select pieces from the BAPE x 88rising collection were available to purchase early on-site at the festival, though the official launch is set for later this summer on BAPE.com. Check out the preview below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
Update (08/15/25): 88rising and BAPE have unveiled their full collaborative collection. The pieces feature dusk-to-dark tones that capture the illuminated California sunset, while glow-in-the-dark details nod to after-hours parties where music blasts into the early hours. Individual 88rising members that are getting their own Artist APE HEAD tees as part of this collaboration include Rich Brian, MILLI, Higher Brothers, Spence Lee, Warren Hue, and Jonah Love.
The accompanying 88rising x BAPE mixtape will drop on November 2025, with the debut single set to drop later this month.
The collection will be available August 16th at BAPE STORE locations, BAPE.com, and Complex Shop, followed by another release on August 30th via 88rising Shop. Check out the full product lineup and campaign starring Rich Brian and Indonesian girl group No Na below.
