During his MVP-winning 2010-2011 season, Derrick Rose established himself as one of the league’s most dynamic point guards, pairing elite speed and athleticism with a physical playing style that defined his early career. At the time, Rose was adidas Basketball’s leading signature athlete, with the AdiZero Rose 1 anchoring the brand’s performance lineup.
Rose’s very first signature sneaker debuted in 2010 and returned in 2020. Now, with the Chicago Bulls set to retire Rose’s No. 1 jersey at the United Center on January 24th, 2026, adidas is once again bringing back the AdiZero Rose 1 in its original black and red “Bulls” colorway. The silhouette returns in its OG form, which stays faithful to the materials, proportions, and detailing that made it an instant classic.
The release was celebrated with a pop-up event tied to the newly declared D Rose Day on January 4th, giving hundreds of fans who attended the chance to win VIP suite tickets to his jersey retirement ceremony and secure early reservations for the AdiZero Rose 1 ahead of its release.
The sneaker itself pairs performance-driven design with unmistakable Bulls energy. It features a black upper, red accents on the heel and sockliner, and white detailing on the Three Stripes branding and outsole. It also includes a commemorative detail: the date of Rose’s jersey retirement ceremony and an image of a rose on the insole, along with his signature in silver on the outside by the midsole.
While Rose has released 11 numbered adidas signature models, as well as a recent Fear of God Athletics PE, none have surpassed the cultural and on-court impact of the original AdiZero Rose 1. It remains the clearest representation of Rose’s prime and the era when adidas performance footwear fully embraced lightweight innovation.
