The mesh runner trend has helped propel ASICS to new levels in recent years. As the brand continues to grow, so does their lineup of in-demand, retro-inspired Sportstyle silhouettes. Just last month, ASICS introduced us to the GEL-NIMBUS 10.1, an update to the 10.0 with added GEL-KAYANO 14 DNA.
Another recent silhouette, the GEL-NYC, has been welcomed with open arms, thanks in part to hit collaborations with the likes of Awake NY, Hidden NY, and even Naruto.
After an impressive 2023, the GEL-NYC is now getting an update of its own, the GEL-NYC 2055. Like it’s predecessor, the shoe sources design influences from various archived running shoes that released in the early 2000s. Both the GEL-NYC and GEL-NYC 2055 come with the midsole and outsole of the GEL-CUMULUS 16. It’s on the uppers where they deviate. While the OG GEL-NYC featured a design inspired by the GEL-NIMBUS 3 from the early 2000s (combined with elements from the GEL-MC PLUS V), this latest model is a blend of the GT-2050 and GT-2060 (hence the name 2055).
The ASICS GEL-NYC 2055 makes its debut in a handful of colorways, our favorite being the “Cream” featured in the editorial shots below. There is also a “Glacier Grey” option featuring blue-tinted overlays, a “Pale Oak” colorway with hits of green, and a “Pure Silver” pair with golden brown accents.
