Now based in Japan, First Down USA has its roots in NYC, created by Korean immigrant Young In Chung in 1983. The brand’s Bubble Jacket became a go-to for New Yorkers during the city’s extreme cold weather. Adopted by the likes of The Notorious BIG, First Down became synonymous with NYC street and hip-hop culture.
First Down has now teamed up with two other Japan-based brands, atmos and ASICS, on a triple collaboration known as the “Subway” pack. It consists of two First Down Bubble Jackets, one featuring a print of Tokyo’s subway system, the other a map of New York City’s subway. The jackets are accompanied by matching colorways of the ASICS GEL-LYTE III.
