Original Story (04/06/22): froSkate is a Chicago-based skate collective founded in 2019 by Karlie Thornton when her and a couple friends, all Black female novice skaters, came together so they didn’t have to learn skating alone. Since then, froSkate has grown to be a beacon of inclusivity in Chicago’s male-dominated skate community and a safe space for all, namely BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and TQGNC (Trans, Queer, and Gender Non-Conforming) folks.
froSkate is now getting its own Nike SB Dunk High collaboration. The shoe features a white leather base with the collective’s “All Love No Hate” messaging debossed on the quarter panels. This message also appears on the right tongue tag, while froSkate branding appears on the left tongue. Overlays come in a mix of red, golden yellow, green, and teal. These colors also dress the tongue, the graphic insoles, the graphics visible through the translucent outsoles, and the five sets of laces (one for each color and one in white with “All Love No Hate” messaging). Additional details include heart-shaped perforations on the toe box and quilted sockliners.
