At Anime Expo 2019 in Los Angeles, FUNimation announced that they will be releasing a replica of Kaneda’s jacket to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the legendary anime film Akira. Worn throughout the film by the main protagonist Kaneda, the red leather jacket has a giant picture of a pill on the back.
Preorders for the jacket begin this month and the jackets themselves will be shipping out this fall. Checkout FUNimation’s announcement below, which includes a picture of the collector’s box that the jacket comes in, as well as a photo of the jacket itself.
