Last night, Modern Notoriety attended the grand opening of A Ma Maniére’s new Edgewood flagship in Atlanta, where we caught up with James Whitner, the owner and founder of The Whitaker Group, the parent company behind A Ma Maniére, Social Status, APB, Prosper, and JAIDE. Whitner was wearing a never-before-seen sneaker, the JAIDE x Air Jordan 11 Low, so naturally we had to ask him about it.
While James was reluctant to share the full story behind the shoe, he did mention that this is a women-led project, a recurring theme since 2021’s A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 3 “Raised By Women.” Given that JAIDE is The Whitaker Group’s women-centric retail concept, the direction of the collaboration feels completely in line with JAIDE’s purpose and identity.
“The story is one of my favorites so far,” says Whitner. “I won’t break it because I think it’s important for the voice to come from her, even though the shoes are on my feet. But I think we’ve been telling a ‘from her’ for all stories, so it’s important to let her lead this story, even though she’s gonna celebrate us all. I hope everybody loves it as much as we do.”
Design-wise, the JAIDE AJ 11 Low features premium leather uppers with glossy patent leather mudguards and icy translucent outsoles, all decked out in JAIDE’s signature minty green hue. Co-branding appears on the heel tabs, with “23” on the left shoe and the JAIDE logo on the right shoe.
The JAIDE x Air Jordan 11 Low is slated to drop later this summer via JAIDE in-store and online. Grab a first look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
