Thirty-plus collaborations deep, and Ronnie Fieg still found a way to do something he’d never done before. For Kith‘s 15th anniversary, he didn’t just bring back an old favorite or put his colorway on an existing runner, he built one from the ground up. The result is the New Balance 2011, his first original silhouette with the brand, and arguably the most meaningful thing to come out of this partnership yet. The name alone says it all, 2011 is the year Kith opened its doors.
Design-wise, Fieg tapped Sam Pearce — the same guy behind the 991v2 and many other silhouettes— to help bring the 2011 to life. The upper is built from scratch with an intricate multi-panel construction, while underneath, it borrows the ABZORB cushioning from the classic 2002.
Four colorways make up the launch: Bark, Redwood, Leaf, and Sakura. Each one meant to map out a different chapter of the Kith x New Balance timeline. Bark and Redwood go the premium leather route, dressed in boot-grade material with tonal canvas underneath and topstitching that mimics the rings of a tree. Leaf and Sakura flip the script with color-blocking, pairing micro-pinched underlays against pigskin suede. Every pair ships with custom footbeds and three extra lace sets because, of course.
Ahead of the drop, Fieg took to Instagram to put his own words to what this milestone means, describing the partnership as a tree that started from a single seed and grew into something far bigger than he ever anticipated. Fifteen years later, that tree has branches that stretch from collaborative footwear to an original silhouette to a brand new physical space in West Hollywood.
Beyond the shoes, the full 15th Anniversary collection spans reimagined technical jackets, shorts, mesh jerseys, and headwear. Some highlights include a watercolor all-over-print hoodie covered in illustrated trees that ties directly into the collection’s storytelling, and a green-and-ivory striped track set.
This all ties into the opening of New Balance at Kith, a dedicated shop-in-shop sitting on the lower level of the West Hollywood flagship. The space will stock men’s and women’s New Balance apparel, exclusive footwear colorways from the 99X Series, Made in USA styles, over 200 pairs across men’s, women’s, and kids’, and will even serve as a U.S. home for New Balance Grey.
The entire collection, including all four 2011 colorways, hits New Balance at Kith in West Hollywood first on Friday, June 26. Bark and Redwood stay exclusive to that location and won’t be going anywhere else. The Leaf and Sakura colorways, along with the full apparel and accessories drop, go wide on Monday, June 29 at all U.S. Kith stores, Kith Toronto, and online via Kith.com and the Kith App at 11AM EST.
