Original Story (04/25/25): Nike Basketball introduces the Ja 3, the third signature shoe for NBA All-Star Ja Morant.
Built for athletes who play like Morant, the Ja 3 is designed to maximize comfort and support, helps players elevate to the rim and land comfortably. The Nike Ja 3 is crafted with a lightweight mesh upper with purpose-built perforations for optimal breathability. The sneaker is packed with performance elements such as a full-length combination of ZoomX foam layered over ZoomX scrap materials on the midsole and a newly engineered micro-traction outsole, inspired by Ja’s signature bulldog crossover.
For this new silhouette, Ja took a hands-on creative approach, pushing for a bold design. The upper evolves the “scratch” motif seen on Ja’s previous two signature models, while incorporating his Nike signature logo into a repeating monogram pattern that extends from the outsole. A vertical Swoosh on the lateral side mimics the letter J, placed beside an A-shaped area to spell out “JA.” On the outsole, his jersey number 12 is split across both shoes—“1” on the left, “2” on the right—accompanied by two of his personal mantras: “A happy Ja is a scary Ja” and “I’m not even worried about proving them wrong.”
“I told the Nike design team I needed something that talks before I even lace it up,” says Ja. “I wanted my third signature shoe to feel like my game and my personality. I told them, ‘Don’t be scared. Push it. Make it rugged, make it different.’ And they ran with it.”
The Nike Ja 3 makes its debut in a two-tone pink and purple “Max Volume” colorway, available August 15th via nike.com and select retailers. Check out Morant’s latest signature shoe below.
Update (08/14/25): The release of the Nike Ja 3 “Max Volume” (aka “Price of Admission”) has been pushed to August 21st, available on Nike.com and at select retailers such as Foot Locker, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Scheels, and DTLR.
