Seattle is ready for the world stage. As the city preps to host international giants for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Seattle Sounders FC has partnered with streetwear brand HOMETEAM to launch “City in Motion,” a cultural campaign and limited edition capsule that puts the soul of the Emerald City front and center.
Founded by Nike and Jordan Brand veteran Ben Kirschner, HOMETEAM brings a hyper-local ethos to the project. Together with the Sounders, the brand has created a four-piece capsule featuring a hoodie crafted from repurposed Sounders FC anniversary kits, graphic tee, cap, and custom anniversary jersey—each piece blending streetwear sensibility with club heritage.
The accompanying campaign goes beyond merch, spotlighting Sounders FC players alongside club legends, Emerald City Supporters, and long-time season ticket holders; folks who’ve been holding it down since day one. Joining them are iconic Seattle figures like Ken Griffey Jr., Jamal Crawford, Detlef Schrempf, and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, all standing in support of their city.
Fueling the energy is Seattle’s breakout artist Yonny, whose track “City In Motion” serves as the official soundtrack. With over 2 million streams, the track captures the grit and pride of the 206. Yonny will bring the anthem to life during Soccer & Sounds, a free concert at Occidental Park on June 15th, just ahead of the Sounders’s Club World Cup opener against Botafogo at Lumen Field.
“This project is about more than merch—it’s about telling a story only Seattle natives could tell,” says Ben Kirschner. “This is an important global moment, but we also wanted to keep it close to home. I’m proud to bring HOMETEAM together with the Sounders to pay tribute to the city that raised me, to celebrate our people, and of course, to support our Sounders squad.”
To celebrate the launch, the Seattle Sounders raised their flag atop the iconic Space Needle in a ceremony attended by Ken Griffey Jr., Yonny, and Sounders legends Brad Evans and Steve Zakuani, marking the official kickoff to an exciting FIFA Club World Cup ahead.
The “City in Motion” capsule officially drops on June 15 at 11am PT, both online and in person at HOMETEAM Gallery in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square. Check out the campaign and photos from the flag raising below.
