U.K based retailer size? is set to release a Vans Sk8-hi inspired by the 70s NYC punk scene dubbed “The Dawn of Punk.” The silhouette references The Ramones’ first ever gig at CBGB’s in August 1974 with particular references to the style of the time.

Materials in the sneaker are inspired by the punk bands’ unofficial uniform. Black leather on the toe box and lace stay symbolize a necessary leather jacket, the blue denim overlay and scuffed stripe represent skinny jeans, and the striped tongue references their T-shirts. On the midsole,“16.08.1974” is handwritten on a duct tape motif, marking the date of the aforementioned gig.

This Vans Sk8-Hi is set to release exclusively through the size? website and select retailers on February 29th for £75.
