Andre Drummond Steps Behind the Design Table for Stria Sport’s SURGE Slide

The NBA All-Star helps launch the brand's first fully 3D-printed recovery slide with Zellerfeld.

Chicago-based Stria Sport is stepping into new territory this summer with something the brand hasn’t done before: a fully 3D-printed slide, built top to bottom with Zellerfeld‘s printing platform and Andre Drummond’s fingerprints all over it. Say hello to the SURGE, the brand’s first premium 3D-printed recovery athletic slide.

This isn’t just another Drummond-approved sneaker drop. It’s the first Stria Sport release in which the two-time NBA All-Star was actually in the lab, sitting in on ideation, shaping the silhouette, and steering production from the jump in his official role as Creative Director.

“As an athlete, recovery matters just as much as performance,” says Drummond. “I wanted to create something I’d actually reach for every day, not just because it looks different, but because it feels different. The SURGE delivers that. Once you put it on, you immediately understand why this is the future.”

On the tech side, rather than being pulled from a mold, the SURGE is printed as a single, continuous structure via Zellerfeld’s platform. Instead of relying on traditional tooling and assembly, each pair is produced on demand as one seamless piece, eliminating the need for glue, stitching, or molds altogether. The result is an uninterrupted lattice structure designed to flex, compress, and rebound with every step, while also reducing the excess inventory and material waste associated with conventional footwear production.

The lattice itself is engineered to compress underfoot and snap back to shape, spreading pressure evenly so nothing feels like it’s digging in. The open structure keeps air moving, too, which means less odor buildup and a slide that’s easy to rinse clean.

“The SURGE Athletic Slide adds another premium product to our shoe lineup while also providing another way for Stria Sport to impact an athlete’s journey,” says Stria Sport founder Eric Porter. “The quality of the materials, the meticulous design and innovative methods on the printing side allowed us to rethink how comfort can be created for the highest-end athletic slide. We are thankful to have Zellerfeld as a partner and we felt that the vision set from Andre and our entire team was a seamless fit with Zellerfeld’s standards and operation.”
