Succeeding the debut Reebok x Chukwu collection that released earlier this year, the second chapter of Tobe Nwigwe’s collaboration with Reebok, “ABUO,” has been revealed. Nwigwe utilizes his artistry and Reebok’s innovative design history to call for a celebration of cultural roots and family.
Nwigwe names the second collection after the number “two” in the Nigerian Igbo language, honoring his roots. Constructed on the blueprint of the Reebok BB 4000 II, the redefined Reebok x Chukwu ABUO features a combination of nubuck leather, unique textile, and hairy suede on the uppers and curved overlays to create a multi-dimensional shoe that defies gravity.
Colorways include signature “Mint” and “Chalk,” each accompanying a gum outsole, co-branded sock liner, and a custom-molded heel logo. A wide array of shoe sizes, including Junior and Children sizes will be available, which attests for Nwigwe’s family-oriented mindset and vision.
Chapter 2 doesn’t end there. The passionate design of the ABUO transfers onto an apparel line featuring a Chukwu Full-Zip Hoodie with saddle-stitching, french terry fabric, and embroidered detailing. The matching Chukwu Sweatpants feature a cotton drawcord and a branded metal zipper. The oversized fit of the pieces aim for the same mobility offered in the ABUO footwear.
