Vans is once again pulling from fashion’s archives, this time revisiting the visual language of Chanel’s La Habana 2016 bag for its upcoming “Charms” pack. The release follows last year’s Chanel bag-inspired Old Skool 36 drop, which was one of the brand’s biggest releases of the year and sold out immediately.
The collection centers on self-expression and unexpected pairings. The pack is led by the LX Authentic 44 Charms, which introduces removable keepsakes and elevated material choices while maintaining a worn-in, travel-inspired aesthetic. It features distressed sidewalls for a vintage look, paired with sequin-striped sides and paint splatter on the toe. Additional design elements include a suede toe cap, metal bolts on the spine, and bright hiking laces, which serve as an additional accessory alongside the gunmetal keychain charms, further reinforcing the shoe’s emphasis on customization and travel theme.
Joining the Authentic is two colorways of the LX Old Skool Charms, which rework the familiar silhouette using textured multi-colored tweed blends and sequin patches. The material mix references some of Chanel’s other luxury bag offerings, positioning the Old Skool as an accessory-forward reinterpretation rather than a traditional skate shoe.
According to designer Greg Betty, formerly of Vans and now at Jordan Brand, the LX Authentic 44 Charms was designed in 2024 in celebration of Vans’ 60th anniversary, using classic color blocking reimagined through new material execution rooted in Americana influences.
The Vans LX Authentic 44 Charms will release in Black/White, Green/Blue, and Red/Navy colorways and will be available Thursday, January 29th, at select retailers and through the Vans website (12pm ET). The LX Old Skool Charms will be available in Black/Gray and Black/Multi colorways sometime in February. Check out the complete “Charms” pack below.
