Vans has released new premium iterations of its Classic Slip-On silhouette as part of a “Quilted Leather” pack, continuing the footwear brand’s recent run of Chanel bag-inspired releases.
The direction follows earlier references, from the graffiti styling of the Chanel SS15 “On the Pavements” messenger bag—reworked through the Old Skool Souvenir—to the “Charms” pack, which nodded to the house’s 2016 La Habana bag.
However, the luxury bag-inspired sneaker concept dates back even further. Designer Greg Betty notes that these “Quilted Leather” Slip-Ons pay homage to one of the earliest examples: the 2015 Just Don x Air Jordan 2 by Chicago designer Don C. This iteration of the AJ2 featured a quilted texture on the midfoot and collar, borrowing the luxe construction from Made in Italy Chanel bags and translating it onto the Made in Italy Air Jordan 2 silhouette.
The same diamond-quilted pattern defines this Premium Classic Slip-On pack, offered in two plush monochrome colorways: “Faded Black” and “Pink.” Each pair is crafted from buttery quilted leather with tonal uppers and outsoles, finished with soft goatskin lining for an elevated feel.
